Muscat Eat food fest spread over 3 weekends starts today
The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) will launch the sixth edition of Muscat Eat at Oman Automobile Association in Seeb, Muscat on February 15.
Scheduled for February 1517, February 22-24 and February 29-March 2, the festival aims to showcase Oman's diversity in culture and heritage through a rich tapestry of events.
An official at MHT said, “This edition boasts a diverse range of entertainment activities, theatrical performances and participation of specialised institutions offering a variety of local and international cuisines. What makes the festival unique is its focus on supporting small and medium enterprises engaged in the food, entertainment and local products.”
The official informed that the festival seeks to enhance tourism, bringing together chefs to present both popular and traditional Omani dishes in a festive atmosphere. Visitors can explore different corners, including a cooking and culture corner, a section for small and medium enterprises, a food sustainability corner, and workshops designed to build public awareness.
“The festival is planned strategically on three weekends to ensure maximum participation of SMES. The public is encouraged to visit the festival from 4pm to 12 midnight,” the MHT official said.
In reference to the ministry’s efforts to develop culinary tourism and arts, he informed that MHT recently launched a programme called Omani Culinary Arts Forum as part of the implementation of the Oman Tourism Strategy.
Omani cuisine has been recognised as a valuable tourism product that provides authentic and innovative experiences. The forum aims to support food tourism and culinary arts, create diverse job opportunities, promote entrepreneurship and local content linked to supply chains, and showcase local culinary arts as a living embodiment of Omani culture and heritage.
