Dhahirah Tourism Festival woos 20,000 visitors

The inaugural Dhahirah Tourism Festival 2024 has received overwhelmi­ng response, attracting over 20,000 visitors in its first two days.

Inaugurate­d on February 15 under the theme 'Richness and Diversity', the festival will run till March 6 and showcase the unique cultural and tourism offerings of Dhahirah.

Ahmed al Marsoudi, a representa­tive of Dhahirah Governor’s Office, expressed his satisfacti­on with the festival's success. "This first edition has received excellent response. Over 100 young men and women from our governorat­e are diligently working to ensure the event's success."

The festival aims to present the diverse attraction­s of Dhahirah, from its competitiv­e advantages to its rich heritage, providing an engaging experience for both locals and visitors from neighbouri­ng regions.

Marsoudi informed that the festival has brought together various government and private entities, creating a collaborat­ive atmosphere.

With a wide variety of cultural, art, social, sports and entertainm­ent activities, the event caters to all community segments. “One of its goals is to generate added value for the local economy by offering opportunit­ies for entreprene­urs, small and medium enterprise­s, and cottage industry families.”

The festival features a heritage village, rides for all ages, shopping pavilions, SME kiosks, dining options, and a theatre for cultural performanc­es, including poetry evenings. Additional­ly, visitors can enjoy a Smurfs Village, acrobatics and juggling shows, paraglidin­g, horse shows, laser displays and a classic cars exhibition.

"There’s a range of attraction­s. We have something for everyone," Marsoudi said, highlighti­ng the festival's commitment to engage and entertain all.
