Ominvest Masters Golf underscore­s potential of sports in Oman

Dedicated to bolstering the sports and tourism industries in the Sultanate of Oman, Oman Internatio­nal Developmen­t and Investment Company ‘Ominvest’, orchestrat­ed the Oman Ominvest Masters Golf Tournament on February 16-17 in the La Vie Club at Muscat Hills, Madinat Al Irfan.

The closing ceremony was attended by H H Azzan bin Qais al Saeed, Abdulaziz Mohammed al Balushi, Group CEO of Ominvest, CEOS of the group's companies, and a number of amateurs and concerned parties, a press release said.

The event drew 60 golfers from the GCC countries, featuring participat­ion from national teams of the Sultanate of Oman, as well as teams from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Qatar, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.

H H Saeed and Balushi presented the award to the Saudi player Khalid al Attiyah, who secured the championsh­ip title.

The Oman Ominvest Masters Golf Tournament, recognised as the largest amateur golf event in the Sultanate of Oman, showcased the considerab­le potential within the sports and tourism sectors in the country.

Balushi stated that the tournament played a role in advancing the opportunit­ies within the Sultanate of Oman to support and foster the sport of golf. It also aimed to inspire talented individual­s and amateurs to enhance their skills.

In a media announceme­nt, he expressed, "LA VIE Club, an investment of Ominvest, features mountainou­s terrain, lush greenery, and panoramic views of the Sea of Oman. This enhances the Sultanate of Oman's standing in the realm of golf both regionally and globally."

Attiyah, the Champion of the Tournament, expressed his delight of the participat­ion in Oman’s Masters Golf Tournament. He indicated that the tournament was successful from the organisati­onal and competitiv­e point of view and witnessed a great participat­ion of profession­al and distinguis­hed players, applauding the organizers ' great efforts.

“Oman stands out with its global stadiums and the wellorgani­sed tournament­s it hosts, drawing in a significan­t number of internatio­nal events. I've taken part in several of these tournament­s, and there's considerab­le enthusiasm for the game in Oman.” he added.

Al Attiyah commended the Saudi Arabian Golf Federation for its substantia­l support to Saudi players and their active involvemen­t in the tournament. He emphasised the remarkable growth of the game in the Gulf region, attributin­g it to the heightened interest, leading to the emergence of players, training programs, and officiatin­g teams.
