The students, staff and school management of Indian school Al Wadi Al Kabir bade an emotional farewell to the students of class 12 of the outgoing batch of 2023-24 on February 324 at the senior school premises.

Padmanabhan Ananthan, managing director, Finance and Corporate Services of Bahwan Engineering Group, was the Chief Guest for the evening’s programme. Other dignitaries present at the solemn ceremony were Anil Khimji, chief patron, Kiran Asher, founder and group managing director, Al Ansari Trading Enterprise, Alkesh Joshi, assistant executive director of ISWK and ISWK International school management committees, Sachin Toprani, honorary president of the school management committee of ISWK and other guests.

The ceremony commenced with lighting of the auspicious lamp by the chief guest, who was presented a potted plant, followed by a semi classical dance performance by the students.

Ananthan, in his address, offered valuable advice to students and encouraged them to treat every challenge as a learning opportunity. Highlighting the fact that college is not just a place to obtain a degree but an opportunity to gain knowledge, he spelt out the importance of three virtues - hard work, empathy and honesty - which will shape a student as an individual.

D N Rao, principal, on behalf of the entire school community, extended his best wishes to the outgoing students for their exams. The phrase, ‘it is not a departure but a see you later’ conveyed a sense of continuity and connection, encouraging students to cherish their memories and stay connected even as they move forward in their lives, he said.

The act of seeking blessings from parents is a meaningful tradition at ISWK. The students were asked to come up on the stage to be blessed by their parents, adding an emotional touch to the farewell ceremony.
