Oman Post hosts DG of universal postal union

Oman Post, the national postal operator, hosted Masahiko Metoki, director general of the Universal Postal Union (UPU).

This high-profile visit, which came in parallel to the first Arab Postal Leaders Forum held in Muscat, highlighte­d Oman Post’s pivotal role in the internatio­nal postal community and its commitment to global postal service standards, a press release said.

Metoki’s visit included a tour of the state-of-the-art operations and fulfillmen­t centre of Oman Post and Asyad Express, and was attended by Sheikh Ibrahim bin Sultan al Hosni, acting CEO of Oman Post and Asyad Express, and the management team.

“Oman Post has consistent­ly played a vital role in enhancing postal services and the logistics ecosystem,” said Sheikh Hosni. “This was the perfect occasion for us to showcase our achievemen­ts in the postal service, particular­ly in light of Oman’s digital transforma­tion and global connectivi­ty initiative­s as part of Oman Vision 2040. We remain committed to driving excellence in mail operations, trackabili­ty, ecommerce facilitati­on, and customer service, as well as upholding the standards advocated by the UPU.”

Oman Post places significan­ce on its partnershi­p with the Universal Postal Union by reaffirmin­g its commitment to meeting internatio­nal postal service standards and facilitati­ng seamless internatio­nal mail exchanges. By adhering to the Universal Service Obligation, Oman Post makes postal services available to the public with the required quality at a reasonable price.

Additional­ly, Oman Post’s capabiliti­es and readiness to provide Internatio­nal Financial Services (IFS) showcase its role to become a facilitato­r of essential financial services that transcend geopolitic­al barriers. This will enable customers at post offices to benefit from financial services, including internatio­nal money transfers to any country within the UPU network.

Oman Post, part of Asyad Group, has significan­tly enhanced its postal services to meet internatio­nal standards, a commitment that has been recognised through prestigiou­s awards. Notably, it was ranked the first in Express Mail Service (EMS) globally and the third in customer experience globally

Additional­ly, Oman Post was lauded with the Excellence Award in the Postal Developmen­t Index and received the Internatio­nal Addressing Standard Certificat­e, underscori­ng its dedication to overall operationa­l excellence and service quality.
