-

Oman has established the third airbridge to deliver relief materials to the Gaza Strip. The delivery of aid, directed by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, is being undertaken by Oman Charitable Organisation (OCO).

The charity dispatched essential supplies through the Rafah crossing on Monday.

A statement issued by OCO said, ‘Continuing Omani aid, the organisation is operating an airbridge with various relief, food and medical materials on board Royal Air Force of Oman aircraft, presented to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip through the Rafah border crossing.’

OCO informed that Dar al Atta’a Association collected over RO600,000 through a campaign called 'For Palestine' to support the people of Gaza. This amount was delivered on February 18 to Mohammed al Dhaili, Chairman of OCO.

Stress on Gaza ceasefire

Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, stressed the urgency of halting the catastrophe in the Gaza Strip and access for humanitarian relief when he received Wolfgang Amadeus Bruelhardt, Swiss Special Envoy to the Middle East and North Africa, in Muscat on Monday.

During the meeting, the two reviewed relations between Oman and Switzerland and ways to enhance and diversify cooperation in economic, commercial and cultural fields.

Sayyid Badr and Bruelhardt followed up on the agreements and memoranda of understanding - especially with regard to Omani-swiss mediation, renewable energy and tourism - that were signed during the official visit of Alain Berset, President of the Swiss Confederation, to Oman in November 2023.

They also exchanged views on current regional and international developments, especially repercussions of the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza and the need for an immediate ceasefire to allow aid deliveries and to stop escalation, contain the conflict in the region and establish a just peace based on the twostate solution.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Humaid al Maani, Head of Foreign Ministry's Global Affairs Department, Munther al Mandhari, Head of Foreign Ministry's Europe Department, Thomas Oertel, Switzerland's Ambassador to Oman, Marilyn Rao, Deputy Regional Coordinator of the Swiss Middle East Department, and several senior officials from both countries.
