South Mabelah Park 50% complete
Muscat Municipality is making significant progress on the South Mabelah Park project in the wilayat of Seeb with 50% construction work now complete.
The project will mark a major enhancement in the wilayat's recreational facilities. Spread over 152,400sqm, the park is poised to become one of the largest green spaces in South Mabelah.
Musa Salim al Saqri, Assistant Director General of Technical Affairs at Muscat Municipality in Seeb, confirmed the halfway completion of the project. "We are hopeful of the park's completion in the current year. It will serve as a significant addition to the community's recreational resources," he stated.
The park is designed to cater to all community segments, including individuals with disabilities. It will feature a variety of amenities that adhere to quality and sustainability standards.
Facilities include a walkway, bicycle path and pedestrian foot bridges over public streets for safety. The park will also offer children's play areas, fitness equipment, restrooms and extensive green spaces to enhance the area's aesthetic appeal.
Additionally, the project will incorporate multi-use sports fields, a skateboarding area, cafes, spaces for mobile vendors and essential public service facilities.
Saqri emphasised the project's role in utilising open spaces effectively. "The project is designed to provide sustainable services to community members, offering a natural environment that promotes physical and sports activities. This initiative is crucial for maintaining public health and serves as a perfect gathering spot for families, especially during official holidays."
The initiative underscores Muscat Municipality's vision to foster public-private sector partnerships, driving joint efforts that contribute to community welfare.
