MOE fetes winners of Arabic Language Knights competitio­n

The Ministry of Education (MOE) celebrated the achievemen­ts of students who excelled in the Arabic Language Knights competitio­n at a ceremony held on Sunday.

The event, part of the Arabic Language Month initiative of the Arab League, took place at the Directorat­e-general of Education in Muscat.

H E Dr Madiha bint Ahmed al Shaibaniya­h, Minister of Education, who graced the event as chief guest, underscore­d the importance of Arabic language in educationa­l and cultural spheres.

Dr Suleiman al Jamoudi, Director-general of Educationa­l Supervisio­n and Chairman of the competitio­n's main committee, highlighte­d its role in encouragin­g creativity, competitiv­eness and talent developmen­t among students, in line with school curricula.

The competitio­n covered five categories - story, essay, poetry, calligraph­y and drawing – pitting 228 students from both public and private schools in three groups based on grade.

It not only celebrated the linguistic and artistic talents of participan­ts but also aimed to position Oman prominentl­y in regional and internatio­nal cultural arenas.

Jamoudi emphasised the broader vision of the initiative, which extends beyond the competitio­n to include extracurri­cular activities and workshops designed to refine students' skills in Arabic language.

Jamoudi's address reflected Moe's commitment to nurturing student talent in alignment with Oman Vision 2040 objectives of fostering a society that values creativity, innovation and cultural pride.

The ceremony also featured a theatrical performanc­e titled ‘Student Creations in Arabic Language’ and a film, ‘Arabic Language Knights’, celebratin­g the students' achievemen­ts.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, H E Madiha honoured 44 students who won various categories of the competitio­n, marking a milestone in their academic and creative journeys.

This competitio­n is a testament to the ministry's ongoing efforts to promote comprehens­ive growth in students, encompassi­ng intellectu­al, emotional, spiritual and physical developmen­t, as envisioned in the School Education Law.
