In acknowledgement of the esteemed contributions of Honourable Lady Sayyida Ahad bint Abdullah bin Hamed al Busaidi, Spouse of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Omani Women's Association in Muscat is conducting a forum called 'Ishraqt Ahad'.

The initiative, spread across all women's associations in Oman, seeks to highlight the Honourable Lady's influential role in supporting Omani women and representing Oman on the global stage.

Maryam al Zadjali, Chairperson of Omani Women’s Association in Muscat and the forum’s supervisory committee, elaborated on its objectives. "This initiative is our gesture of gratitude to the Honourable Lady for her unwavering support and for being an inspiration for Omani women to fulfil their national responsibilities and represent Oman admirably on the international stage," she stated.

Maryam also stressed the forum's role in encouraging Omani artists to use their art to instil loyalty and a sense national unity.

The forum aims to be a cornerstone for Omani Women's Association, enhancing its role as a dynamic civic institution that champions the developmental contributions of Omani women.

The selection process for participants involved a supervisory committee comprising academic experts from Sultan Qaboos University and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, evaluating over 300 applications. Of these, 213 applicants were chosen from various women’s associations and young artists associated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth.

'Ishraqt Ahad', which began on February 19 and will run till March 19, offers artists a month-long period to create their artworks. An exhibition is also planned to display the creations, Maryam informed.

To support artists, the supervisory committee has provided essential materials and equipment, ensuring the production of high-quality works. A competition will be held of the exhibits with the top five taking away generous prizes ranging from RO1,000 to RO5,000.

Maryam said she hoped that the competition would not only pay tribute to the Honourable Lady but also introduce fresh talent to Oman's vibrant fine arts scene, further enriching the cultural fabric of the nation.
