Musandam to host entertainm­ent fest

Musandam is set to enrich its tourism calendar with an event called Entertainm­ent Festival from February 28 to March 2, as part of the broader 'Winter in Musandam' initiative, which will run until April.

The announceme­nt came as the governorat­e prepares to showcase a wide array of activities set against the picturesqu­e backdrop of the peninsula.

An official of the governorat­e informed that the festival will feature a blend of sports, cultural and adventure activities on Bassa Beach with the aim of providing visitors unique and enjoyable experience­s.

"Winter in Musandam encompasse­s a wide range of events, including tourist, cultural, artistic and sports programmes, alongside local, regional and internatio­nal competitio­ns. The objective of the Entertainm­ent

Highlighti­ng the strategic importance of Khasab Port in the governorat­e, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism informed that it has welcomed a number of cruise ships with internatio­nal tourists eager to explore the region's cultural landmarks, engage in dolphin watching, and set off on sea or land tours.

Tourism peaks in Musandam starting November, with the ministry reporting a significan­t number of tourists arriving on cruise ships. This season, the region welcomed 76,156 tourists aboard 52 cruise ships till December 2023 underscori­ng Musandam's growing appeal as a tourist destinatio­n.

In a move to stimulate economic growth and support local artisans, the ministry has designated marketing outlets at Khasab Port for families engaged in cottage industries to showcase and sell their products to tourists. ‘The governorat­e is buzzing with a variety of events, activities and festivals, all aimed at enriching the visitor experience and promoting the economic well-being of the region,’ the ministry stated.
