Oman Oil Marketing Company (OOMCO), which recently completed 20 years of operations, is planning to further expand its network of retail service stations in Oman as well as in Saudi Arabia and Tanzania, which are among the key growth markets of the company.

OOMCO celebrated its 20th anniversary in the fuel retail sector by reflecting on its success and a host of key milestones. Under the auspices of H E Qais Mohammed al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, OOMCO brought together a host of its stakeholders to mark the special occasion.

On the occasion, Hilal Ali Saif al Kharusi, Chairman of OOMCO, said, “Our journey has always been defined by putting the growth of Oman and its people first. While we are a company of many firsts, we remain committed to aligning our strategy with the Oman Vision 2040. Over the years, OOMCO has consistently taken the next strategic steps in the transformation of the fuel supply industry, and we will continue to achieve more milestones for generations to come.”

OOMCO has reached 277 service stations in Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Tanzania. Currently, it operates 235 service stations in Oman, 30 stations in Saudi Arabia, and 12 in Tanzania. The company forecasts its network of service stations to reach 308 locations.

Addressing a press conference on Sunday, Khamis al Shuaibi, General Manager of Shared Services at OOMCO, said that the company is planning to expand its retail stations network in both the Saudi and Tanzanian markets this year.

“In Saudi Arabia, we currently operate 30 service stations and are planning to open 20 more to reach 50 stations by the end of 2024. Similarly, we currently operate 12 service stations in Tanzania and are planning to open two more stations this year,” Shuaibi said.

He informed that OOMCO’S portfolio also includes a total of 86 service stations that include electric vehicle (EV) charging points. Moreover, 12 of these sites are powered by solar panels, while 24 service stations across Oman have a Vapor Recovery System, significantly reducing the carbon footprint of these sites.

In addition, OOMCO signed a partnership agreement with Synergy Investment to establish Electrical Vehicles One, known as EVO. EVO is tasked with developing Oman’s EV infrastructure and supporting green mobility initiatives.

“Since our establishment in 2003, we have been a company that consistently delivers on its brand purpose, which is to become the most customer-centric oil fuel marketer in the region, while staying true to our Omani roots. Our purpose has always been to create value and achieve progress for the communities we serve,” said Tariq bin Mohammed al Junaidi, Chief Executive Officer of OOMCO.

“We have been building a brand that provides more than just quality fuel. The gradual rollout of mega service stations and green stations in Oman is a glimpse into the future of service stations to offer a variety of services to inspire customers and meet and exceed their expectations.”

OOMCO has four subsidiaries in Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Tanzania, including OOMCO Marine Bunker Terminal at the Port of Duqm, and Ahlain International LLC, which specialises in express retail services at OOMCO’S service stations.
