ICAI Muscat Chapter felicitates puppeteer Anupama Hoskere
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) Muscat Chapter - under the sponsorship of the College of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS) - felicitated Padma Shri award winner for the year 2024 Anupama Hoskere at an event conducted at CBFS in connection with the International Women’s Day.
The event - held on March 5 in the presence of various dignitaries, members of ICAI Muscat Chapter and invited guests - had Najat al Lawatia, GM- Finance and Investment Monitoring & Reporting, Social Protection Fund as the chief guest.
Anupama Hoskere, an engineer-turned-puppeteer and Founder-director of Dhaatu Puppet Theatre, Bengaluru, is keeping an ancient Indian artform alive. She has also been recognised with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Puraskar, the highest accolade for practicing artistes in India.
An Independent Director in the a public sector company NPCC, she is a multifaceted personality, a puppeteer, culture educator and horticulturist. She addressed the gathering highlighting the hidden potential of the women of India by drawing from examples of illustrious women from the epics of Bharata and her own life story.
Sangeeta Suresh Kumar, chairperson of Women Excellence Committee of the Chapter, welcomed the gathering. “On this auspicious occasion of celebrating International Women’s Day, we are delighted with the presence of an unsung heroine of India, whose life is the best example of how women can change the world and spread happiness,” she added.
“Our chapter and ICAI has always supported the women leaders, not just by words but by example. Out of 16 Chairpersons in past, three of them were women leaders. One third of the ICAI members are female CAS and almost half of the CA students are female students, all this is achieved without any reservation,” highlighted Jim Joseph Itty, chairperson of the Chapter.
