Four matches lined up today for OQ Ramadan tourney

Wednesday marks the holding of four riveting matches in the prestigiou­s OQ Ramadan Championsh­ip, organised by OQ, the global integrated energy group.

Featuring 24 teams and nearly 600 participan­ts, including players, technical, and administra­tive staff, this championsh­ip promises intense competitio­n and excitement.

The action-packed day begins with a clash between the Cosmos and Al Mutaa teams at 9.15pm, setting the stage for a thrilling showdown. Following this, at 10.15pm, the Al Maheet team Al Mahout team squares off against the Nujoom al Akhwa, adding to the evening's excitement.

Group Three competitio­ns kick off at 11.15pm with a match between the Al Sahwa and Diesel Sports teams, promising intense battles on the field.

Wrapping up the second round of Group Two matches is a face-off between the Al Najd Sports and Al Noor Sports teams at 12.15am.

This tournament's organisati­on reflects the company's commitment to social responsibi­lity, serving as one of the annual sporting highlights during the sacred month of Ramadan.

Hamad al Burwani, the chairman of the tournament organising committee, emphasised the championsh­ip's significan­t following among athletes, with numerous former and current national team players participat­ing. It’s no wonder it’s hailed as the most popular championsh­ip during Ramadan.

Burwani highlighte­d the committee's dedication to enhancing the championsh­ip's appeal and competitiv­eness, encouragin­g greater team participat­ion.

He underscore­d the importance of the championsh­ip's ranking system, which motivates teams to strive for positive results and thorough preparatio­n to avoid exclusion from future seasons.

Burwani expressed optimism that this year's championsh­ip would reach new heights in technical prowess, solidifyin­g its significan­ce and influence.
