Muscat, Salalah airports clinch top ME awards
Muscat International Airport has been named the best airport for customer experience among airports in the Middle East handling 15-25 million passengers in 2023.
Similarly, Salalah Airport has secured the title for the best customer experience in the region for airports with up to 2 million passengers, according to the prestigious Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards.
These awards, presented by the Airports Council International in collaboration with Amadeus - a leader in travel technology, underscore the commitment of Oman’s airports to exceptional service quality.
In addition to these accolades, Salalah Airport made a sweep in all categories - receiving the awards for having the Most Dedicated Staff, being the Easiest Airport for Journey, the Most Enjoyable Airport and the Cleanest Airport in the Middle East. These achievements highlight the airport’s exceptional focus on customer satisfaction and operational excellence.
The ASQ Awards are renowned for their comprehensive evaluation of airport performance, relying on direct feedback from travellers through surveys conducted at airports on the day of travel. This method ensures an accurate assessment of passenger experience, covering over 30 performance indicators across key aspects of the airport journey.
Saud bin Nasser al Hubaishi, Acting Chief of Operations at Oman Airports, expressed pride in these achievements, attributing them to Oman Airports’ unwavering dedication to enhancing the travel experience.
“Since the inauguration of the new Muscat International Airport in 2018, and the operational shift at Salalah Airport in 2015, Oman Airports has been focused on delivering superior services, streamlining operations, and ensuring a seamless travel experience for passengers,” he said.
Eng Zakaria bin Yaqoub al Harrasi, vice president of Salalah Airport, shared his delight at the airport’s recognition.
“Despite its recent opening, Salalah Airport has rapidly ascended in service quality rankings, thanks to the collaborative efforts of its partners and staff. These accolades align with Oman Airports’ broader objective to elevate service standards across all airports in the country, coinciding with the nation’s growing appeal to international tourists and the surge in charter flights to the region.”
These awards not only celebrate the exceptional service offered at Muscat and Salalah airports but also reflect Oman's rising prominence in the global aviation sector, marking a significant milestone in its quest to become a leading travel hub in the Middle East.
