New foundation to support Islamic teachings unveiled
Abdulsalam bin Mohammed al Murshidi, President of Oman Investment Authority, unveiled the Hidayah Endowment Foundation at an event held in Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre on Monday.
The foundation’s objective is to secure sustainable funding to support initiatives to introduce Islamic teachings and facilitate scientific and cultural exchange.
Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Ahmed al Khalili, Chairman of Board of Directors of the foundation, said it aims to present the essence of Islam to non-muslims, while also showcasing Omani civilisation on a global stage. He emphasised Oman’s historical role in upholding truth and supporting the oppressed, which has garnered scholarly interest worldwide.
Sheikh Abdul stressed the foundation’s commitment to establishing sustainable financial sources, emphasising the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors, as well as individual philanthropists. He commended the cooperation from companies and institutions in support of the foundation’s initiatives.
Highlighting Oman's historical significance and its openness to the world and its Islamic and Arab surroundings, Sheikh Abdul informed that the foundation's goal is to facilitate research and understanding of Oman's heritage. He stressed on the importance of collaboration and partnership between society, individuals and institutions to achieve this noble cause.
During the unveiling, the foundation signed five memorandums of understanding to establish strategic partnerships with various public and private institutions and agencies.
The agreements included a usufruct contract with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, cooperation in endowment work with Imam Jaber bin Zaid Endowment Foundation, and collaboration in institutional service with Bank Nizwa, among others.
