Fak Kurbah to secure release of 1,500 prisoners this year
A number of public and private sector institutions have pledged support to the ‘Fak Kurbah’ initiative, which will help secure the release of 1,500 people convicted or imprisoned for insolvency this year.
Now in its 11th edition, Fak Kurbah is organised by Omani Lawyers Association under the theme ‘Because we believe that a person deserves a second chance’.
Dr Mohammed al Zadjali, Chairman of Omani Lawyers Association and Supervisor of Fak Kurbah, thanked all contributors to the initiative, which includes individuals, groups and institutions.

Zadjali underscored the significant role played by both public and private entities, highlighting their invaluable contributions as a further testament to the initiative's effectiveness and its impact resonating across all sectors of society. “Such collaborations are a compelling evidence of the resilience and unity of Omani society, uniting individuals and institutions alike in pursuit of shared humanitarian goals.”
Since its launch in 2012, Fak Kurbah has facilitated the resolution of over 5,890 insolvency cases, including 925 last year.
