OOC General Assembly meets tomorrow

The General Assembly of Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) will convene its regular meeting for this year on Tuesday, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel - Al Irfan, under the chairmansh­ip of Sheikh Khaled Mohammed al Zubair, OOC president.

During the meeting, the minutes of the previous meeting of OOC General Assembly, held on March 28, 2023, will be ratified. The annual report will also be reviewed, which includes a report on the administra­tive situation and the committee's activities for the year 2023. Several events were organised domestical­ly, notably hosting GCC NOCS presidents in Muscat in October last year, and organising the ‘Step Forward’ programme for female sports leaders, and the programme on the importance of physical activity and proper nutrition in Buraimi, Saham, and Salalah.

The Athletes' Forum, held in Salalah, Sur, and the Olympic Committee headquarte­rs in Muscat, as well as the Sohar Walk event, and the Physical Activity Day event organised in Musandam Governorat­e, were also highlighte­d.

Additional­ly, the report includes the major administra­tive actions and decisions taken by the Board of Directors, the Executive Office, and internal committees during their meetings throughout the year. It also includes reports and technical results of the committee's external participat­ions, represente­d by the 15th Arab Sports Games held in Algeria from July 5 to July 15, 2023, and the 19th Asian Games held in China from September 23 to October 8 of the same year.

Furthermor­e, OOC activities and events for the current year 2024 will be discussed, including external participat­ions such as the 7th Arab Women's Clubs Games held in the United Arab Emirates in February last year, and the 1st GCC Youth Games, which will also be held in the United Arab Emirates in April.

Additional­ly, the 33rd Summer Olympic Games (Paris 2024), the 1st Gulf Indoor Sports and Martial Arts Games, to be held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, to be held in Thailand in November, will be discussed.

Also, an overview of the internal events and programmes approved by the Board of Directors to be held this year, such as Olympic Day, the approved programmes of Oman Olympic Academy for this year, and a range of sports, awareness, and social events included in the activity of the assisting committees of the Board of Directors, among others, will be discussed.

During the meeting, the financial statements for the fiscal year ending in 2023, the auditor's report for the previous year, and the proposed budget for the current fiscal year 2024 will be presented.
