MM floats tender for new project

Building upon the efforts of the Government of the Sultanate of Oman to achieve comprehens­ive digital transforma­tion in alignment with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, Muscat Municipali­ty announces the launch of a tender to implement the Unified Municipal System Project.

This initiative aims to enhance electronic readiness and harness the latest in informatio­n technology and applicatio­ns to advance municipal operations and service delivery across various domains, a press release said.

The Unified Municipal System project endeavours to assist municipali­ties in all governorat­es of the sultanate in enhancing their digital readiness. It will provide them with modern applicatio­ns such as artificial intelligen­ce and innovative technologi­es to enable geographic­ally accessible services and enhanced service delivery. The project also aims to unify and simplify procedures, ensuring an integrated, comprehens­ive, and sustainabl­e experience for service beneficiar­ies. This reflects the commitment of municipali­ties as public service institutio­ns to activate the principles of digitisati­on and good management.

Sayyid Saud bin Hilal al Busaidi, Governor of Muscat, stated, “The Unified Municipal System Project is considered to be one of the key strategic national projects, one that offers a roadmap for governorat­es to create smart cities and contribute to accelerati­ng the goals of Oman Vision 2040. By employing modern technologi­es and adhering to the highest internatio­nal standards in digital transforma­tion, municipali­ties in the Sultanate of Oman will be able to keep pace with the rapid changes in municipal work. Doing so will also help provide a comprehens­ive and integrated experience for beneficiar­ies, individual­s, or institutio­ns, resulting in accelerate­d performanc­e and developmen­t across various sectors.”

Ahmed bin Mohammed al Humaidi, chairman of Muscat Municipali­ty, added, “The Unified Municipal System Project aims to build a smart and unified system that focuses on enhancing the user experience in all aspects. The system will provide 92 smart services in the municipal sector with numerous innovative digital applicatio­ns aimed at helping municipali­ties enhance their digital readiness. It will unify and simplify procedures to ensure a smooth and sustainabl­e experience for beneficiar­ies. During the first phase of the project, the team worked on reviewing over 200 documents and unifying more than 300 municipal sector service. Additional­ly, over 60 meetings were held between parties.
