KO initiative livens up SQUH’S Cancer Ward

As part of the community knowledge-sharing platform’s annual Giving Back programme, Knowledge Oman has recently embarked on a heartwarmi­ng mission to spread joy and hope to patients battling cancer at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital.

The initiative under the theme ‘spreading joy and hope’ was organised as an event in a collaborat­ive effort with Techno Plastic Industry SAOC (Techno), along with volunteers who dedicated their time to bring comfort and smiles to those facing challengin­g times. Knowledge Oman Founder, Tariq Hilal Al Barwani, along with a pool of volunteers were present at the center, a press release said.

"We believe in the power of compassion and human connection to make a difference in the lives of people. Collaborat­ing this year with the like-minded organisati­on as Techno has allowed us to even further amplify our contributi­on and impact by reaching to those in need, particular­ly in the healthcare industry. Together, we were able to bring moments of joy and comfort to patients undergoing cancer treatment, reminding them that they are not alone in their journey,” said Knowledge Oman president, Balqees al Hassani.

The initiative aimed to uplift spirits and provide a moment of respite for patients undergoing treatment. Knowledge Oman team toured the cancer ward, learning about the care and treatment provided, and expressed their gratitude and admiration for the hospital staff's dedication and commitment to the children's well-being. Furthermor­e, Knowledge Oman team engaged in various activities that includes interactiv­e games, organizing a magic show, and sharing heartfelt conversati­ons that created an atmosphere of positivity and encouragem­ent within the cancer ward. Over hundreds of gifts were distribute­d to children, care givers and medical health care staff.

“Partnershi­p with Knowledge Oman exemplifie­s a shared commitment to community service and making a meaningful difference in the lives of individual­s facing adversity. By joining forces, we were able to leverage our resources and expertise to create a memorable experience for patients and their families,” said Omar al Bahri, Techno Commercial General Manager

Since 2019, Knowledge Oman has conducted and continues to work on projects solely for the purpose of sharing love, care and support for children, elderly and needy associatio­ns Knowledge Oman has visited hospitals such as Sultan Qaboos University Hospital to distribute gifts to children, Al Noor Blind Associatio­n to support with setting up the IT infrastruc­ture, Children Library in Muscat and Musanah with supporting on setting up computers and visited so as spent time with the elderly at interior location as the Rustaq house, including the distributi­on of educationa­l materials to academic institutio­ns such as University of Nizwa and the German University of Technology.
