‘Altruism Dose’

Brings joy to hospitalis­ed children

Al Ithar Voluntary Group is conducting a Ramadan initiative called ‘Altruism Dose’ to brighten up the lives of children receiving medical treatment during the holy month.

The initiative is designed to bring joy and provide psychologi­cal support to young patients in Muscat's hospitals, notably Khoula Hospital, The Royal Hospital and Sultan Qaboos University Hospital.

Sakina al Hosni, leader of Al Ithar Voluntary Group, shared with Muscat Daily its mission. "Our goal is to bring smiles to the faces of these children who are facing health challenges by presenting them gifts and engaging them in activities that lift their spirits," she explained.

In partnershi­p with local families, the group has handed out 550 Ramadan baskets filled with staples such as rice, oil and flour, aiding over 826 families.

Al Ithar also champions the cause of productive families by showcasing their homemade products - including food items, incense, perfumes and clothes - on social media platforms, thus widening their market reach.

Additional­ly, Al Ithar supports over 400 orphans, ensuring their basic living expenses, including rent, utilities and food, are covered.

“With the Altruism Dose initiative and our comprehens­ive community efforts, Al Ithar Voluntary Group aims to weave a tapestry of kindness and empathy, offering solace and joy to those in need during Ramadan,” Sakina said.
