Indian Embassy holds blood donation drive

Embassy of India, Muscat, in associatio­n with the Health Ministry of Oman, successful­ly conducted the Annual Ramadan Blood Donation Drive for 2024 from March 29 to April 6.

This year's drive witnessed a strong response from the Indian community, with more than 1000 individual­s coming forward to participat­e, resulting in the collection of around 800 units of blood.

Thamara al Gafri, director general of Health Services, Muscat, together with H E Amit Narang, Ambassador of India to the Sultanate of Oman inaugurate­d the week-long event on March 29, a press release said.

The blood donation drive by the embassy aims to address the shortage of blood at Oman's blood banks, often experience­d during the holy month of Ramadan. This marks the third consecutiv­e year that the Embassy of India has organised a blood donation drive during Ramadan. Over the past three years, the Embassy has consistent­ly organised such camps, with each year witnessing significan­t participat­ion and contributi­on, exceeding 1000 units of blood.
