MHUP launches ‘Exchange Your Land’ initiative for citizen well-being
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning (MHUP) has launched a new initiative called ‘Exchange Your Land’.
A statement released by MHUP said the primary objective of the initiative is to enhance services and streamline real estate procedures to align with its vision of sustainable urban development for prosperous communities.
‘The initiative aims to leverage the benefits of digital transformation across all services, including the government land grant system.’
Under the Exchange Your Land initiative, citizens who have been granted government residential land and wish to exchange it for housing options in their current place of work or residence will have the opportunity to do so, provided they are the original owners of the land.
Since Royal Decree No 42/2021 regarding granting government land was issued, MHUP has been committed to providing various housing options to eligible citizens, prioritising families, in accordance with Oman Vision 2040's focus on well-being and social protection.
The ministry earlier introduced an initiative called ‘Choose Your Land’, which enabled eligible citizens to select suitable plots of land from interactive geographical maps displaying available residential plans. This initiative benefited over 25,000 individuals in 2023. It was followed by MHUP introducing a programme called ‘Own Your Land’, offering beneficiaries the opportunity to acquire governmentsubsidised land in designated plans and locations with integrated services.
Another initiative - ‘Plan Your Land’ - allows beneficiaries to choose suitable land in areas not covered by existing housing plans, provided it is within their permanent residence village/ area.
