Oxy Oman highlights innovation­s at OPES

Oxy Oman served as the exclusive Sustainabi­lity Host at the Oman Petroleum and Energy Show (OPES), where company representa­tives displayed achievemen­ts and innovation­s in the energy sector.

The three-day-event was held at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre and was inaugurate­d by H E Eng Salim bin Nasser al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals.

Steven Lauver, President and General Manager of Oxy Oman attended the opening event along with other senior representa­tives of the company.

As part of the conference, Oxy Oman also exclusivel­y sponsored the Energy4me student workshop, a global educationa­l program developed by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) to promote energy knowledge and education among school students. The daylong workshop comprised of sessions and hands-on activities detailing key concepts in exploratio­n and production in the oil & gas industry.

In addition, Oxy Oman representa­tives took part in the exhibition section of OPES with a company booth, as well as the Technical Conference that was organised by SPE, with the theme ‘Affordable, Sustainabl­e and Clean Energy’.

Company representa­tives at the Oxy Oman booth briefed visitors on the company’s latest innovation­s and achievemen­ts, including its CO2 Injection pilot program at Safah Field; a virtual reality experience simulating Oxy Oman’s Drilling collaborat­ion room; and presentati­ons on Omanizatio­n and the role of Carbon Capture Utilizatio­n and Storage (CCUS) technology in Oman’s path to Net Zero.

In the technical conference, company representa­tives discussed Oxy’s global technologi­cal innovation­s, including its Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology, as well as its long-term investment­s to achieve net zero emissions. In addition, Oxy Oman employees presented on operationa­l efficiency and achievemen­ts in steam technology at Mukhaizna field.
