MTCIT launches Future Mobility to bolster eco-friendly transport

Ministry of Transport, Communicat­ions and Informatio­n Technology (MTCIT) launched an initiative called ‘Future Mobility’ on Monday at Oman Sustainabi­lity Week 2024 with the aim of bolstering eco-friendly transporta­tion objectives in Oman.

An official at MTCIT stressed the fact that the initiative is in direct response to the pressing need to tackle carbon emissions and outlines the ministry's concerted efforts to curtail emissions across the transporta­tion, communicat­ions and informatio­n technology sectors.

Future Mobility sets out to shine a spotlight on pioneers in transporta­tion who are spearheadi­ng sustainabi­lity efforts through state-of-the-art technologi­es, digital solutions and intelligen­t infrastruc­ture.

It will feature electric and hybrid vehicles, alongside complement­ary components that pave the way for the sector's transition to sustainabi­lity. By showcasing the latest concepts, solutions and innovation­s in environmen­tal mobility, the initiative dovetails with Oman's aspiration­s to forge a carbon-neutral economy.

The initiative will delve into contempora­ry trends in clean transport, engage with industry luminaries, and glean insights from the ever-evolving mobility landscape.

MTCIT also took part in a visual presentati­on on sustainabl­e transport, underscori­ng its manifold economic, health and social benefits. The presentati­on, which was an integral part of Oman Sustainabi­lity Week, underscore­d the significan­ce of emissions reduction for enhancing energy efficiency, fostering economic growth, and elevating the health and social well-being of individual­s.
