OETC’S journey filled with aspiration­s and achievemen­ts

The Oman Electricit­y Transmissi­on Company (OETC) celebrated its 19th anniversar­y on May 1, in a journey filled with achievemen­ts and aspiration­s, and vital strategic plans and projects that align with both national visions and global practices in the various relevant fields.

The OETC’S efforts have succeeded in enhancing the electricit­y sector through the establishm­ent and completion of various projects spread throughout all governorat­es in Oman, ensuring the sustainabi­lity, reliabilit­y, safety, and availabili­ty of the electricit­y network.

Furthermor­e, the company responds to the continuous growth in all sectors along with empowering the national economy in line with the developmen­tal journey pursued by the Sultanate of Oman.

OETC has completed and inaugurate­d more than 110 Grid Stations, extended 132kv electricit­y transmissi­on lines for a distance exceeding 4600km, 220kv electricit­y transmissi­on lines for more than 1800km, and 400kv electricit­y transmissi­on lines reaching over 2800km.

In addition, it has achieved the highest standards of quality in various operations and reached high levels of reliabilit­y and availabili­ty of the electricit­y network, which confirms OETC’S commitment to achieving the highest levels of performanc­e and meeting targets at the institutio­nal and national levels.

Additional­ly, OETC, in collaborat­ion with other partners, thrives to achieve the sultanate’s Net Zero goal by 2050, alongside connecting the electricit­y generation stations with renewable energy resources.

The electricit­y transmissi­on network will also contribute to enabling and connecting various strategic projects, including the green hydrogen projects, which will have a direct and positive impact on supporting the national economy.

The company has achieved an Omanizatio­n rate of up to 97%, reflecting the OETC’S confidence in national competenci­es across various positions that require high levels of knowledge, experience, and skills. OETC also monitors relevant internatio­nal systems and policies, ensuring their applicatio­n and compliance to guarantee the highest levels of health, safety, and environmen­tal standards. This is demonstrat­ed by achieving over 48 million safe manhours since the last losttime injury (LTI) and “Zero” major environmen­tal incidents, as all OETC’S members strive to achieve environmen­tal sustainabi­lity.

Saleh Nasser al Rumhi, OETC’S CEO, emphasised the company's commitment to supporting the developmen­tal journey in the Sultanate, continuing to work efficientl­y and with high quality to achieve the aspiration­s and visions according to national plans.

Rumhi also highlighte­d the OETC’S commitment to establishi­ng various profession­al relationsh­ips and communicat­ing with experts in the field to transfer knowledge, expertise, and skills, and enhance the company's performanc­e to reach the highest global standards in this field. “As we celebrate the sector's day, we recall the starting point and sharpen our ambitions to continue the developmen­tal journey in the country under the wise and visionary leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik - may Allah protect him - with OETC working as one of the leading institutio­ns and major supporters of continuous growth in all sectors. Through every new vital project, we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring and improving the quality, reliabilit­y, sustainabi­lity, and safety of the electricit­y transmissi­on network, which extends throughout the Sultanate to supply all sectors with the life’s nerve to continue our developmen­tal journey together for a more prosperous future for Oman.”
