OETC’S journey filled with aspirations and achievements
The Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC) celebrated its 19th anniversary on May 1, in a journey filled with achievements and aspirations, and vital strategic plans and projects that align with both national visions and global practices in the various relevant fields.
The OETC’S efforts have succeeded in enhancing the electricity sector through the establishment and completion of various projects spread throughout all governorates in Oman, ensuring the sustainability, reliability, safety, and availability of the electricity network.
Furthermore, the company responds to the continuous growth in all sectors along with empowering the national economy in line with the developmental journey pursued by the Sultanate of Oman.
OETC has completed and inaugurated more than 110 Grid Stations, extended 132kv electricity transmission lines for a distance exceeding 4600km, 220kv electricity transmission lines for more than 1800km, and 400kv electricity transmission lines reaching over 2800km.
In addition, it has achieved the highest standards of quality in various operations and reached high levels of reliability and availability of the electricity network, which confirms OETC’S commitment to achieving the highest levels of performance and meeting targets at the institutional and national levels.
Additionally, OETC, in collaboration with other partners, thrives to achieve the sultanate’s Net Zero goal by 2050, alongside connecting the electricity generation stations with renewable energy resources.
The electricity transmission network will also contribute to enabling and connecting various strategic projects, including the green hydrogen projects, which will have a direct and positive impact on supporting the national economy.
The company has achieved an Omanization rate of up to 97%, reflecting the OETC’S confidence in national competencies across various positions that require high levels of knowledge, experience, and skills. OETC also monitors relevant international systems and policies, ensuring their application and compliance to guarantee the highest levels of health, safety, and environmental standards. This is demonstrated by achieving over 48 million safe manhours since the last losttime injury (LTI) and “Zero” major environmental incidents, as all OETC’S members strive to achieve environmental sustainability.
Saleh Nasser al Rumhi, OETC’S CEO, emphasised the company's commitment to supporting the developmental journey in the Sultanate, continuing to work efficiently and with high quality to achieve the aspirations and visions according to national plans.
Rumhi also highlighted the OETC’S commitment to establishing various professional relationships and communicating with experts in the field to transfer knowledge, expertise, and skills, and enhance the company's performance to reach the highest global standards in this field. “As we celebrate the sector's day, we recall the starting point and sharpen our ambitions to continue the developmental journey in the country under the wise and visionary leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik - may Allah protect him - with OETC working as one of the leading institutions and major supporters of continuous growth in all sectors.
