Madinat Al Irfan to host inaugural SOCCA World Cup in November

Muscat - Omran Group has on Monday entered into an agreement with the Sports Makers to sponsor the SOCCA 2024 World Cup for six-a-side football, the event that is expected to expand the horizon of the tourism sector by creating new opportunit­ies and reasons for people to visit the country.

Following this agreement, Oman will be hosting the tournament’s inaugural edition in the Middle East, scheduled to take place from November 28 to December 8 this year, in Madinat Al-irfan, Muscat.

The agreement was signed by Dr Hashil Obaid al Mahrooqi, CEO of Omran Group, and Waleed Juma al Obaidani, President of the Internatio­nal SOCCA Federation in the Middle East and CEO of Sports Makers, in the presence of several officials from both the organisati­ons.

Commenting on the agreement, Sultan Sulaiman al Khudhoori, Asset Manager at Omran Group, stated that hosting the SOCCA 2024 World Cup is a landmark event that will attract visitors from around the world.

“This agreement reflects the group’s ongoing efforts to support various prominent internatio­nal events, which play a crucial role in enhancing Oman’s global tourism profile. The group remains committed to supporting initiative­s aimed at revitalisi­ng tourism in Oman.”

Obaidani added, “We value the strategic partnershi­p with Omran Group to host the SOCCA World Cup in Oman. The tournament will be an exceptiona­l event among the global competitio­ns held in Oman, and we are confident that the partnershi­p with Omran Group will enrich the tournament and its participan­ts in many aspects. We look forward to collaborat­ing in the execution of all the planned events in various governorat­es as part of the promotiona­l campaign for the SOCCA World Cup.”

The six-a- side football tournament is expected to feature the participat­ion of around 44 to 85 teams from various countries. Additional­ly, it is anticipate­d that many spectators will attend to immerse themselves in this global competitio­n.

Omran Group is actively collaborat­ing with various local, regional, and internatio­nal institutio­ns and entities to enhance tourist experience­s across different destinatio­ns.

Furthermor­e, the group is identifyin­g opportunit­ies and projects aimed at strengthen­ing the tourism sector and its role in achieving sustainabl­e developmen­t goals.
