MOE honours winning student companies in ‘Oman My Destination’ programme
The Ministry of Education (MOE), represented by the Center for Vocational Guidance and Student Counseling, in cooperation with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, celebrated on Sunday morning the honouring of the winning student companies of the Oman My Destination programme, a release stated.
The programme, held under the patronage of H E Azzan bin Qasim al Busaidi, Undersecretary for Tourism in the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, was attended by Sheikh Yaqoub bin Saif al Shuhaimi, Director-general of the Center for Vocational Guidance and Student Counseling.
The honouring ceremony, which took place at Oman Hall at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism’s General Diwan, began with the playing of a piece from the Royal Anthem, followed by a presentation of the Oman My Destination programme. The presentation included an introduction to the programme, its idea, objectives, its target group, its content, its implementation mechanism, and its fields.
In his speech, H E Busaidi reminded that the tourism sector is one of the sectors on which the Sultanate of Oman relies for sources of economic diversification. “It is one of the sectors that provide job opportunities for young people, and these opportunities are not necessarily direct job opportunities, but provide opportunities for self-employment through student companies to carry out self-employment work carried out by graduates at various stages of training,” further said, adding that the ministry works either through joint initiatives such as this initiative or even through initiatives to provide programmes to prepare and qualify students to be ready to take advantage of these opportunities in the tourism sector.

Ameri, Director of Finance at Joby Company, gave a speech in which he said, “In the ‘Oman My Destination’ programme, we went through a new and unique experience, in which we benefited and learned a lot from, as our perceptions expanded and we were introduced to different ideas and experiences, which made our participation an enriching experience that we will record in the list of our achievements. This is not the end of the journey, but rather the beginning of the hard work, the burning desire, and the passion that leads to achievement and accomplishing goals.”
Then, two experiences for two startup companies in the tourism sector were presented, ‘Darbak Company’ and ‘Venture City’.
The presentations included an introductory overview of the companies, their advantages and objectives, challenges and applications, services, future plans and vision, coverage, regional partnership, and achievements in the tourism sector.
After that, the patronage of the celebration honoured the programme supervision committee, the judging committee from the Ministries of Education, Heritage and Tourism, administrators, department heads, school principals, specialists, and students, and honoured the student companies ‘Qahtan Company’ and ‘Incense Tears Company’ with incentive prizes, and the companies that won the three first places.
The first in the Sultanate of Oman as distinguished student companies in the tourism sector, where Rahali Company from Buraimi won third place, Yalla Wayana Company from North Batinah came second, and Joby Company from South Batinah won the first place.
The ceremony ended with a musical piece presented by the two students, Hud bin Said al Balushi, and Jhailam bin Abdul Rahim al Balushi, from Sheikh bin Salem bin Said al Sayeghi School in Seeb.
The ceremony reviewed the programme’s goals and activities, highlight its achievements, results, vision, and future aspirations, and provide thanks and appreciation to everyone who helped implement the activities and events on the ground and contributed to their success, and provide an opportunity for all organisers and participants in those events to get to know each other within the framework of the programme in a beautiful and elegant festive atmosphere.
On the sidelines of the ceremony, an exhibition was also held for student companies participating in the programme.
