MOH inaugurates expanded services in Sur Hospital
To ensure the delivery of healthcare services to citizens and reduce waiting lists and referrals, the Ministry of Health (MOH) inaugurated several new services in Sur Hospital on Thursday.
The services expansion project, costing in excess of RO900,000, was financed by Oman LNG.
The inauguration ceremony was held under the patronage of Sheikh Sabbaa Hamdan al Saadi, Secretary-general of Secretariat General of National Celebrations, in the presence of H E Dr Hilal Ali al Sabti, Minister of Health, and several senior officials.
Dr Yahya al Masroori, Director of Sur Hospital, stressed the fact that the ministry has prioritised development of healthcare services to meet the needs of the population and provide them with the highest level of care by enhancing institutional structures characterised by sustainable decentralisation.
This includes providing a healthy work environment for continuous professional development, which would positively impact healthcare services.
The services expansion project was supervised directly by the Ministry of Health to align with the government's concerted efforts to ensure the delivery of healthcare services to citizens and enhance decentralisation in governorates based on with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
The expansion project includes a number of rooms equipped with the latest catheterisation equipment, a control room, a reception area, and a magnetic resonance imaging unit, funded by Oman LNG. Dedicated staff qualified in cardiac catheterisation were recruited and nursing teams trained for these services.
The expansion includes an oncology unit comprising an outpatient clinic for patient examination, a room for chemotherapy preparation, and beds in the day-care unit to provide chemotherapy treatment. Oman Cancer Association in South Sharqiyah supported the project by training teams at the National Oncology Centre in The Royal Hospital.
