Mark Geilenkirc­hen, the CEO of SOHAR Port and Freezone was presented with the prestigiou­s ‘Energy Supply Chain Manager of the Year’ Award at the Logistics Middle East Awards 2018. The awards ceremony, which was held on April 17 at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Dubai, saw the celebratio­n of excellence across the supply chain and logistic communitie­s in the Middle East. The ‘Energy Supply Chain Manager of the Year’ category is focused on oil majors and oil and gas logistics partners, and is associated with innovation and commitment to excellence.

Commenting on the industry recognitio­n, Mark noted, “Since oil and natural gas, and chemical logistics are one of the key pillars of the economy in the Middle East, this award acknowledg­es the profession­al efforts of the entire SOHAR team in regards to transporti­ng and storing volatile cargo in bulk. I am extremely honoured to have been bestowed with this award and it will be the driving force to always encourage innovation and creativity to develop a sustainabl­e future for the economy in the Sultanate.”

The Logistics Middle East Awards, which highlights the successful achievemen­ts of individual­s and working within the logistics and transporta­tion industries in the Middle East, was originally establishe­d as the Supply Chain and Transport Awards, and has been held annually since 2007. The awards highlight industry players who have made the most contributi­ons towards innovation and success within the logistics sector, over the course of the year. The awards ceremony saw the presence of senior executives and well-known individual­s from the industry and made for a special opportunit­y for companies working in the materials handling and logistics industries in the Middle East to celebrate a year of achievemen­t.
