Oil & Gas Review’s Energy Conference & Awards 2018 focused on the changing energy landscape
Leading names of the oil & gas, renewables and engineering sectors participated in the inaugural edition of Oil & Gas Review’s Energy Conference & Awards, organised on November 14, at Sheraton Oman, Muscat. The event was divided into two parts – Conference in the first half of the day and an Awards function in the evening. HE Dr. Rasheed bin al Safi al Huraibi, Chairman of Tender Board was the chief guest.
The Summit kicked-off with a presentation on the ‘4th Industrial Revolution -- Where Art Thou Oil & Gas’ by Faris A. Al-Kharusi, Digital Center of Excellence Manager, Petroleum Development Oman (PDO). In his presentation, he focused on the global trends in the space apart from sharing some of the case studies within PDO and their benefits. It was followed by a presentation from Badar Al Sariri, Country Director Oman, GlassPoint Solar on how solar thermal technology is propelling the renewables sector especially in the oil & gas industry in Oman.
The next session was a panel discussion on ‘Deriving Optimal In-Country Value (ICV) Through New and Emerging Energy Value Chains’ involving the top names from the industry including Suleiman Al Saifi, HR Lead - ICV
PMO Office, Ministry of Oil and Gas; Dr.Abdullah Al Abri, ICV Technical Lead, Petroleum Development Oman (PDO); Mabrook Al-Siyabi, ICV Manager, Oman Oil Company; Hemant Murkoth, CEO, Business Gateways International; and Khalid Al Haribi, Founder & MD, Impact Integrated as the moderator. The panelists shared the ICV success stories, how ICV strategy is contributing towards making Oman a smart nation and the learnings from the ICV programmes in oil & gas sector for other sectors in the Sultanate.
Later in the evening, the Awards function was held to felicitate the best industry performers. The ‘Excellence in Engineering Solutions’ Award was presented to Voltamp Energy. It was followed by ‘Best Sustainable Energy Project’ Award to Miraah.
It was received jointly by Petroleum Development Oman and GlassPoint Solar. The ‘Excellence in In-Country Value (ICV)’ Award went to Oman Oil Company. Amran Al Marhubi, Technical Director, Petroleum Development Oman was felicitated with the coveted ‘Energy Person of the Year’ Award.
The event was instituted by Oil & Gas Review magazine, Oman’s first and only magazine on the oil & gas sector, published by United Media Services.
