OMAN-A NATION ON THE MOVE HITS THE STANDS
United Media Services (UMS) has published the 2018 edition of its annual bilingual publication, Oman-A Nation on the Move, lauding the astute policies of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said, including the Vision 2040 strategy that have placed Oman among the most stable and forward looking states on the global map.
The 2018 edition, brought out to mark the 48th National Day, focuses on the improving economic sentiments in the Sultanate buoyed by rising oil prices and the continuing growth story. The annual publication is dedicated to His Majesty’s endeavour to transform Oman into a modern state with a well-developed infrastructure, vibrant economy and peaceful society, offering the highest living standards to the people of the country.
Published since 2005, Oman-A Nation on the Move encapsulates major achievements of the Sultanate and has an in-depth analysis of the measures being taken by Oman to negotiate a challenging economic scenario and structural reforms to boost private sector-led growth, increase economic diversification and create jobs. This year’s edition also analyses Oman’s Vision 2040 strategy, the ongoing efforts on diversification, publicprivate partnerships and so on. Oman Vision 2040 provides the guidelines for next two decades, under which the government can draft the next five-year plan, which would be the first fiveyear plan to be implemented under the guidance of Oman Vision 2040. The plan period commences from 2021. 2018 marks the middle of a five-year diversification strategy that builds on Oman’s long-term vision to shift from an oil-based economy. The government has embarked on an ambitious plan to diversify the country’s revenue streams to focus on sectors such as tourism, logistics, manufacturing and OMAN – A NATION ON THE MOVE has chronicled such initiatives. It also presents a first-hand account of the progress made by the Sultanate in key sectors including oil & gas, information technology, telecommunications, banking, finance, insurance, infrastructure, real estate and retail.
In an age marked by global economic slowdown where every country is trying to attract foreign capital and trade, Oman has become a preferred destination for the international investment community.
The Ambassadors of the prominent countries, in their own words, describe the growing bilateral economic bond with Oman and the factors that make their states committed to work jointly with Oman’s Government and the private sector.
