3 PER CENT INCREASE IN TOTAL PRODUCTION OF REFINERIES AND PETROLEUM INDUSTRIES
The total production of refineries and petroleum industries in Oman rose by 3% at the end of May 2019 compared to the output recorded during the same period of 2018, according to statistics data released recently by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The NCSI data show that the production of regular grade petrol (Mogas 91) also increased by 3% at the end of May 2019 to 6.2 million barrels compared to same period of 2018. Domestic sales of Mogas 91 rose by 5% to 4.4 million barrels. It also shows that the production of Mogas 95 rose by 14% to 5.4 million barrels at the end of May 2019, as the sales for this grade of petrol rose 34% to 5.08million barrels, while exports reached 664000 barrels. The production of diesel declined by 7% to 11.1 million barrels in May 2019, but its domestic sales rose 14% to 6.4 million barrels. Diesel exports decreased 12% to 4.7 million barrels compared to the same period last year of 2018.
The aviation fuel production rose 13% to 6.1 million barrels in May 2019. Domestic sales of aviation fuel increased by 4% to
1.9 million barrels and its exports also increased 17% to 4.1 million barrels. The production of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) rose 8% to reach 3.2 million barrels. Sales of LPG rose 3% to 1.1 million barrels, where its exports jumped 15% to reach 2.05 million barrels. Paraxylene production increased 1% to 268,000 MT and its exports also registered a decrease of 1% to reach 263,000 MT. The production of Polypropylene decreased by 1% to reach 122,000 MT, its sales declined by 28% to reach 18,000 MT, and its exports increased by 15% to reach 109,000 MT.
