Progress 2019-20 hits the stands
The Sultanate’s growing credentials as the fastest growing economy in the GCC region, as predicted by International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the determination to achieve the goals and targets set out in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development are key takeaways from Progress 2019-20, the annual bilingual publication, brought out by United Media Services (UMS) to mark the 49th anniversary of Oman’s Blessed Renaissance.
In its 25th edition, Progress (Al Takkadum) focusses on the rapid strides taken by the government under the visionary leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said, on various socio-economic parameters in line with United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals and how the real GDP is expected to grow by more than six percent in 2019, ahead of its peers. The publication also looks at how the allocation of funds to strategic infrastructure projects as well as social development initiatives, in addition to pushing for economic diversification and increased participation of the private sector, is helping Oman steal a march in growth over other GCC states in 2019.
Progress also discusses at length Oman’s transformation journey through eOman initiative and how the Sultanate is using automation and technology to move towards smart cities, smart metering, renewables and electric charging stations and so on. Over the past 25 years, Progress has made its presence felt as the leading annual publication in the Sultanate chronicling the landmark achievements of Oman under the visionary leadership of His Majesty.
Progress also presents a first-hand account of Oman’s development from various ministers and dignitaries, an indepth look at key economic milestones, digital transformation, initiatives and agreements of 2019 and various sectors that have contributed to the Sultanate’s development and modernisation. Each of the sectors is covered in dedicated chapters highlighting the strides taken by the Sultanate in these areas.
Other articles focus on the latest developments, key financial indicators and the future roadmap. The articles that include features on Duqm and Sohar ports delve into how the Sultanate, guided by the vision and determination of His Majesty, has achieved remarkable progress and development in various fields and established a strong economy by harnessing its natural resources and encouraging private enterprise. The country’s landmark achievements has assumed a position of eminence both at the regional and international levels.
