Progress 2019-20 hits the stands

The Sultanate’s growing credential­s as the fastest growing economy in the GCC region, as predicted by Internatio­nal Monetary Fund (IMF) and the determinat­ion to achieve the goals and targets set out in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainabl­e Developmen­t are key takeaways from Progress 2019-20, the annual bilingual publicatio­n, brought out by United Media Services (UMS) to mark the 49th anniversar­y of Oman’s Blessed Renaissanc­e.

In its 25th edition, Progress (Al Takkadum) focusses on the rapid strides taken by the government under the visionary leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said, on various socio-economic parameters in line with United Nation’s Sustainabl­e Developmen­t Goals and how the real GDP is expected to grow by more than six percent in 2019, ahead of its peers. The publicatio­n also looks at how the allocation of funds to strategic infrastruc­ture projects as well as social developmen­t initiative­s, in addition to pushing for economic diversific­ation and increased participat­ion of the private sector, is helping Oman steal a march in growth over other GCC states in 2019.

Progress also discusses at length Oman’s transforma­tion journey through eOman initiative and how the Sultanate is using automation and technology to move towards smart cities, smart metering, renewables and electric charging stations and so on.
