Zeeshan helps Assarain post narrow win
MUSCAT — Opening batsman Zeeshan Maqsood with a top score of 68 (58b, 1x6 and 6x4) and bowling figures of 3 for 16 off 4 overs helped Assarain register a narrow 12-run win against Enhance.
The Khimji Ramdas sponsored A/B Division T20 match was the first of the three matches played at the OAC III grounds during the weekend.
Electing to bat after winning the toss Assarain made 160 for the loss of 4 wickets off their quota of 20 overs. Arif Hussain 32 (28b, 3x4) and Sindo Michael 22 (15b, 3x4) made useful contributions.
Ghazanfar Iqbal and skipper Guru Prasanna claimed two wickets each conceding 24 and 30 runs respectively.
Enhance in reply were bowled out for 148 off 19.5 overs.
Major contributions came from opening batsman Ghazanfar Iqbal 32 (19b), Unnikrishnan P 31 (28b, 2x4), Shamas Ul Haq made a cameo 24 (11b, 2x6 and 1x4) whilst Ikhtiar Kazmi chipped in with 21 (18b, 1x6).
Arif Hussain two for 20, Arun Poulose two for 26 and Nadeem M two for 36 lent valuable support to Zeeshan Maqsood in the bowling department.
MUSCAT CT CRUSH TR ENGINEERING
Muscat CT crushed TR Engineering by 82 runs in another Khimji Ramdassponsored A/B Division T20 match played during the afternoon at the same venue.
Winning the toss and deciding to bat Muscat CT made 167 for five wicket off the 20 allotted overs with a top score of 55 (45b, 4x4) from No 3 batsman Swapnil Khadye.
The other batsmen to make major contributions were opening batsman Asad Mohammed 34 (27v, 4x4), Ganesh Narsimayah 32 (26b, 3x4) and Adnan Ilyas 22 (13b, 4x4).
Zahir Dosani picked up two wickets conceding 37 runs off four overs.
Requiring 168 for victory TR Engineering were bowled out for a trivial 85 runs off 18.5 overs with skipper Sharad Kohle opening the batting making a top score of 29 (38b, 4x4).
Wilson Burboz was the pick of the bowlers ending with figures of four for 16 off 3.5 overs.

In the third match of the day at the same venue Al Turki NMC Reds received a walk over from Sinha CT in another Khimji Ramdas sponsored A/B Division match.
