Nod for expatriate tailors
MUSCAT — Sanad Programme’s board, in a meeting here yesterday, gave its go-ahead for the recruitment of expatriates to work in the fields of designing, embroidery and tailoring of women’s dresses.
The meeting, chaired by Social Development Minister and Sanad Board Chairman Shaikh Mohammed bin Said al Kalbani, reaffirmed that Sanad is willing to adopt new practical ideas to respond to better the current requirements of labour market.
The minister said that Sanad Programme focuses on self-employment, noting that the programme extends support to more than 42,700 beneficiaries, 38 per cent of who are women.
The board assessed Sanad Programme after 10 years from its inception, as well as the programme’s service centres, incubators and the Livelihood Projects Development Fund. The board also took decisions on the training of women.
Samir bin Ahmad al Nabhani, CEO of the pro- gramme, said that Sanad is determined to continue its national march to achieve its goals and implement its strategies, while at the same time extending full support to youth to start their own businesses.
Sanad has improved its work mechanisms in a bid to go in line with trends of social and economic developments.
Al Nabhani hoped that Sanad will contribute to the national economy through the programme’s support for private initiatives and small and medium enterprises. — ONA
