Boost to relations with Austria

MUSCAT — Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud al Busaidy, Secretary-general of the Foreign Ministry received in his office here yesterday Dr Wolfgang Waldner, State Secretary for European and Internatio­nal Affairs in Austria.

The meeting exchanged views on the bilateral relations march and fields of the existing bilateral co-operation, besides touching on a number of developmen­ts and regional and internatio­nal issues of common concern.

The meeting was attended by Talib bin Miran al Raeesi, Head of the Economic Affairs Sector, a number of officials at the specialise­d department­s at the Foreign Ministry, Dr Johannes Wimmer, appointed Ambassador of Austria to the Sultanate and resident in Riyadh and the delegation accompanyi­ng the guest.

Later, Dr Wolfgang and his delegation yesterday visited the Public Authority for Investment Promotion and Exports Developmen­t (PAIPED).

During the visit, the Austrian Minister was briefed on the investment atmosphere in the Sultanate and the joint elements between the economy of the two countries, in addition to the most important facilities and support rendered by PAIPED for the investor in the Sultanate and the most existing projects, promising investment areas and industrial estates in the Sultanate, besides the available investment opportunit­ies during the coming years in various fields, such as infrastruc­ture services, commodity production sector, production­s services and other developmen­t sectors.

Dr Wolfgang stressed the importance of this visit which comes within the framework of enhancing the economic and trade relations by utilising these

projects to serve the two countries and setting up strategic partnershi­ps in economic and investment areas. — ONA
