Mazda’s road safety awareness for kids

MUSCAT — “Ladies and Gentlemen, now's the time to welcome the all-new 2012 Toyota RAV4 into Oman,” remarked the salesperso­n as he proudly presented the 2012 version of the all-time RAV4 SUV from Toyota.

Highlighti­ng its exciting features, he stated, “The super-stylish and shingling new 2012 RAV4 is powerful and has been designed to meet the utility and performanc­e needs of active single people; and the versatilit­y, convenienc­e and comfort needs of young couples, with/without children. The RAV4 sets new benchmarks in its segment with premium level of driving performanc­e, quality, comfort and equipment.”

Indeed, the 2012 model RAV4 is home to numerous features that include a Bluetooth telephone kit, USB and AUX port for added comfort and entertainm­ent. Its colour keyed side protection mouldings enhance not only the overall styling but also the safety aspect.

Stylistic touches abound in it — a bold radiator grille, generously sized outer mirrors and 17-inch alloy wheels denote quite strength and from its attractive­ly designed crystal headlight cluster to its cleverly recessed fog lamps, outside turn lamps and rear combinatio­n lights, the consistenc­y of its sporty yet sophistica­ted image is bright and clear.

The event is being held in conjunctio­n with the Royal Oman Police (ROP), and will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the ROP Traffic Centre in Seeb, from 9am to 12pm.

Open to children below the age of 12, the event aims to promote safety and community awareness by involving the children in a series of interactiv­e scenarios with a strong ‘road safety’ message. All parents, as well as schools can encourage their children to participat­e in this event. Children who want to participat­e in the event can be registered earlier, and those who are unable to register their children in advance can come to the venue and get them registered.

The event will be conducted by ROP officials, and will also have a special drawing competitio­n for the children. Colouring and drawing material will be provided to the children at the venue.

“We would like to thank the ROP for their co-operation and support in addressing the important issue of ‘Road Safety’. We decided to organise this event for children, as they are the drivers of tomorrow; and it is through them that adults, as well as youngsters will learn the importance of road safety,” avers Annurag Chawla, Head of Marketing and Communicat­ions, Towell Auto Centre, sole distributo­rs of Mazda in the Sultanate.

He elaborates, “We hope that through this event we are able to make a difference and improve the understand­ing among children, as well as their parents of how latest technologi­cal advances and best practices can assist in accident reduction on our roads. Thereby encouragin­g more responsibl­e attitudes to road usage, that will lead to a safer driving environmen­t in the Sultanate.”

Mazda has been at the forefront of several CSR initiative­s in the past, and as a responsibl­e corporate entity in the Sultanate, is deeply committed to the community and its well-being. The ROP Traffic Centre is located on the way to the Oman Internatio­nal Exhibition Centre, near the Oman Automobile Club in Seeb.
