Andre Toet: I have a vision for Sohar’s future
Arabia. in Rotterdam, developing the port, we can learn from them and prevent them in Sohar.
Can you tell us something about your own personal reaction when you got the job?
I have known Sohar since 2007, I have always had good memories coming to Oman. Therefore, I became delighted when I was appointed.
What will you do in terms of a good neighbour policy ensuring that the port has good relations both with the people and with other organisations in the Batinah region?
We have to become better listeners and allot time in our agenda to listen to the people. We will not be able to solve all issues, but we have to listen and we have to manage expectations. At the same time we have to explain and tell the story, how important these kind of developments are for the well-being and economic growth of the region and the country.
There is always a balance between growth and wellbeing of the people. I have learned this as well in Rotterdam.
When it comes to an end how will you personally judge whether your period as a CEO has been a success?
When the people of greater Sohar/batinah region appreciate the port development and its effect it had on the economy and job creation. Tenants and customers are happy and also making a decent return on their business in both the port and Free Zone.
When I have attracted substantial new business for the Free Zone and the port.
Employees of SIPC, Free Zone regard this company as a good place to work.
