Higher Education Ministry, METU likely to sign MOU
MUSCAT — Dr Rawya bint Saud al Busaidiya, Minister of Higher Education received in her office here yesterday Prof Ahmet Acar, President of Middle East Technical University (METU) of Turkey and his accompanying delegation.
The meeting discussed issues relevant to activating scholarships to METU which is considered one of the prominent universities in Turkey as it was ranked high in international Spanish university rating service called Wipo Matrix.
The University offers a wide range of programmes like engineering, biotechnology and economics which the Higher Education Ministry earnestly tries to benefit from METU expertise through dispatching a number of Omani students to study those specialisations.
The meeting also discussed steps to activate Memoranda of Understanding (Mous) between the Higher Education Ministry and Turkish Higher Education Council, as well as exploring the possibility of signing a direct MOU between the Higher Education Ministry and METU and thorough discussion of details relating to admission requirements and students' life in Turkey, to benefit from METU capabilities and facilities to facilitate all study issues and to know learning environment which the Ministry tries to cater for Omani students studying outside the Sultanate.
