Ties with France, Turkey discussed

MUSCAT — His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmood al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, received here yesterday members of the French Parliament led by Michel Saint Mary, Head of the Omani-french Friendship Group who are currently visiting the Sultanate.

After welcoming the guests, HH Sayyid Fahd reviewed bilateral relations and avenues of future co-operation.

He commended the role of the Group in enhancing ties of friendship between the two countries.

The meeting also focused on the Sultanate and the role of the Majlis Ash’shura which operates within perimeters of heritage and modernisat­ion meant to reinforce each stage of the Sultanate’s developmen­t.

The meeting also touched on current issues in the internatio­nal arena and other matters of common concern.

HH Sayyid Fahd also received Sadullah Ergin, Turkish Justice Minister, and hsi delegation here yesterday. HH Sayyid Fahd reviewed the progress of bilateral relations and the keenness of the two sides to enhance co-operation in all fields, particular­ly co-ordination among supreme judiciary bodies.

HH Sayyid Fahd pointed out that the Sultanate, under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, has spared no effort in supporting the Judiciary as an independen­t entity.

The two sides also reviewed regional and internatio­nal issues of common concern. — ONA
