Regional meet for audit institutions on Feb 20
MUSCAT — The Sultanate will host the 6th Regional Conference for the GCC Audit Institutions on February 20 at Al Bustan Palace Hotel.
The two-day conference will be organised by Thomson Reuters Corporation in collaboration with Oman Corporate Governance Centre at the Capital Market Authority (CMA).
The opening ceremony will be presided over by Yahya bin Said al Jabri, Chairman of the Special Economic Zone Authority at Al Duqm in the presence of businessmen and investors.
The conference will discuss the proper environment that can manage crisis and cope with the developments in light of the challenges faced by the investment institutions and international houses in a bid to ensure the proper environment that helps them to avoid any negative implications on their performance.
The conference will discuss themes including corporate governance in the region, Islamic nance and ef ciency of boards of directors, combating corruption, capital market oversight, risk management, nancial reporting and the role of the private sector in attracting investment to the region.
Representatives of the regional and international audit agencies, besides audit, governance and compliance experts will take part.
The conference targets regulatory agencies, central banks in the Gulf, the Middle East and the world, banks and nancial institutions board members, chief executive of cers, bankers, members of the board of directors for enlisted companies, and legal consultants.
The conference aims at providing nancial specialists with the opportunity to discuss major economic issues related to governance and to promote level of implementation that provides nancial markets with effective protection. — ONA
