Regional meet for audit institutio­ns on Feb 20

MUSCAT — The Sultanate will host the 6th Regional Conference for the GCC Audit Institutio­ns on February 20 at Al Bustan Palace Hotel.

The two-day conference will be organised by Thomson Reuters Corporatio­n in collaborat­ion with Oman Corporate Governance Centre at the Capital Market Authority (CMA).

The opening ceremony will be presided over by Yahya bin Said al Jabri, Chairman of the Special Economic Zone Authority at Al Duqm in the presence of businessme­n and investors.

The conference will discuss the proper environmen­t that can manage crisis and cope with the developmen­ts in light of the challenges faced by the investment institutio­ns and internatio­nal houses in a bid to ensure the proper environmen­t that helps them to avoid any negative implicatio­ns on their performanc­e.

The conference will discuss themes including corporate governance in the region, Islamic nance and ef ciency of boards of directors, combating corruption, capital market oversight, risk management, nancial reporting and the role of the private sector in attracting investment to the region.

Representa­tives of the regional and internatio­nal audit agencies, besides audit, governance and compliance experts will take part.

The conference targets regulatory agencies, central banks in the Gulf, the Middle East and the world, banks and nancial institutio­ns board members, chief executive of cers, bankers, members of the board of directors for enlisted companies, and legal consultant­s.

The conference aims at providing nancial specialist­s with the opportunit­y to discuss major economic issues related to governance and to promote level of implementa­tion that provides nancial markets with effective protection. — ONA
