Women sports of cial joins State Department programme

MUSCAT — US Embassy Muscat had conducted a predepartu­re orientatio­n for Suada Salim al Ismaili, Director of Women Sports Department, Ministry of Sports Affairs, who will be participat­ing in the US Department of State’s sponsored programme, the Internatio­nal Visitor Leadership Programme entitled “Sports and Wellness Programmes for Women and Girls” from January 30 to February17.

The programme is designed for health ministry of cials, medical practition­ers, teachers, athletic instructor­s, health club staff and other leaders promoting women’s health and wellness.

During the programme, participan­ts will examine public and private sector ini- tiatives aimed at improving the health of women and girls through athletic competitio­n, physical tness and holistic lifestyles.

Moreover, the programme will focus on legal and cultural transforma­tions which have advanced attitudes about women’s tness in the United States and highlight connection­s between self awareness, self con dence and leadership skills.

Additional­ly, participan­ts will have opportunit­ies to experience a broad variety of competitiv­e sports events, women’s health seminars, and guided workshops.

The participan­ts will start the programme in Washington, DC and then travel to Atlanta, Georgia, Kansas City, Missouri and Seattle, Washington.
