MSE post win over Arabian Industries ‘B’

MUSCAT — In the first match of the morning at the university grounds, Mustafa Sultan Enterprise­s (MSE) registered an emphatic eight-wicket win against Arabian Industries ‘B’ in an Oman Cricket conducted ‘F’ Division T20 match played during the weekend.

Electing to field after winning the toss MSE restricted Arabian Industries ‘B’ to 146 for seven wickets at the end of their quota of 20 overs.

Opening batsman Adersh Prince made 43 (45b, 3x4) whilst his partner skipper Raghu Suvarna 30 (27b, 2x4), the duo being associated in a 66 -run partnershi­p for the first wicket. Sushil Kadam made an unbeaten 21 (9b, 2x4).

Rajendra Sawant claimed three for 35 and Omani cricketer Khalid Rahim Bakhsh al Balushi picked up two wickets in the same over conceding 26 runs off four overs each.

MSE who started their innings with 24 penalty runs on the board for late arrival of their opponents reached their target with ease making 150 for two wickets off 17 overs — thanks to an opening partnershi­p of 98 runs off 8.1 overs between Anumodh Nair 43 (33b, 5x4) and Abdullah Alam 37 (28b, 4x4). Hillary D’souza coming in at the fall of the first wicket made an unbeaten 26 (30b, 3x4).

LANDMARK TRIUMPH

In the second match of the morning Landmark registered an easy 103-run win against MCCC ‘B’ in a Gulf Cricket Academy-sponsored ‘H’ Division T20 match played at the same venue.

Winning the toss and batting first, Landmark made a mammoth 222 for six wickets off their 20 stipulated overs. Openers Farzan with a blazing 61 (21b, 14x4) and Deepal Asanka 30 (19b 3x4) posted 92 runs for the first wicket off 6.1 overs. Nagaraj coming in at the fall of the first wicket made 56 (31b, 6x4) and Prashanth Nayak remained unbeaten on 30 (14b, 5x4). Niraj Asher bowled a tight line to end with figures of four for 23 off four overs.

MCCC ‘B’ in their turn replied with 119 for five wickets off the 20 overs with a topscore of 31 (33b, 1x4) from Paritosh. The other batsmen to make noteworthy contributi­ons were Niraj Asher 23 not out (1x4) and Sharath 21 (2x4). Savio ended with figures of 2

for 27 off 4 overs. In the afternoon at the same venue, Ernst & Young earned a thrilling 16-run win against Galfar Cricket Team in a crucial Raha Poly Products-sponsored ‘D’ Division T20 match played during the weekend.

Deciding to bat after winning the Ernst & Young were bowled out for 139 off 18.4 overs — thanks to a sterling 75 (55b, 1x6 and 5x4) from No 3 batsman Syed Osama Afaq.

The bowlers to cause the damage were skipper Khalil Ahmed with three for 17 off 3.2 overs, Munas P K three for 27 and Imran Khan two for 28 off four overs each.

Galfar in reply found runs hard to come by and were bowled out for 123 off 18.4 overs. Skipper Khalil Ahmed batting at No 6 top-scored with a solid 51 (40b, 5x4). Earlier opening batsman Zafar Iqbal chipped in with a useful 40 (35b, 5x4). The bowling honours were shared by Ankit Desai and skipper Alkesh Joshi who claimed three wickets each conceding 22 and 23 runs respective­ly.

AL TURKI NMC BLUES

DEFEAT ENHANCE

Despite a brilliant bowling performanc­e of five for 51 off 10 overs from Kunal Pandya, Al Turki NMC Blues began their ‘A’ Division League matches with a 45-run win against Enhance Cricket Team. MUSCAT — Jan Willem Brinkhorst clinched the KCA Deutag title organised by the Ras Al Hamra Golf Club (RAHGC) and played at the Muscat Hills.

Brinkhorst scored a total of 46 points winning the title with a margin of seven points. There was a close fight for the second to fifth prizes, with only two points separating the winners.

Mohamed Lamki emerged as runner-up with 39 points, just a point ahead of third -placed Richard Chia on 38 points. The fourth place went to Tom Fredriksen with 37 points where count back was required to separate him from fifth-placed Yvonne Wilden- burg who also scored 37.

Manju Vimani also won prizes for the closest to the pin and Richard Chia for the longest drive.

The prize-giving ceremony was held at the RAHGC Club House.

RAHGC captain Richard Chia expressed his sincere thanks to KCA Deutag for sponsoring this tournament.
