Labour issues, co-operation reviewed with ALO chief
GENEVA — On the sidelines of meetings of the 101st session of the World Labour Conference currently held in Geneva, Shaikh Abdullah bin Nasser al Bakri, Manpower Minister, yesterday met with Dr Ahmed Mohammed Luqman, Director-General of the Arab Labour Organization (ALO).
The meeting reviewed co-operation between the Sultanate and ALO in the eld of work and development of manpower.
It also revised the Sultanate’s efforts in social dialogue among the three production stakeholders, besides the Sultanate’s contribution and its role in sup- porting Arab efforts on various issues concerning the labour sector, as well as technical education and vocational training.
The Sultanate is taking part in meetings of the conference for the third consecutive week by a delegation led by the manpower minister and membership of representatives of the production parties, represented by some employers headed by Khalil bin Abdullah al Khonji, Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) and Saud bin Ali al Jabri, Chairman of the Trade Union of the Sultanate.

by Yahya bin Salim al Wahaibi, Sultanate Permanent Representative to the United Nations headquarters in Geneva and other International Organizations and the delegation accompanying the minister.
Shaikh Abdullah along with the GCC Manpower Ministers yesterday also met with Guy Ryder, new Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO) during which they discussed with him enhancing efforts on issues that promote human resources, as well as reviewing the existing co-operation and co-ordination between the GCC countries and ILO. — ONA
