Organised jointly by the Indian Embassy in Muscat and Qurum Business Group (QBG) in partnership with Geogit BNP Paribas, a high level delegation from India representing the Indian Ministry of Finance led by Dr Thomas Mathew, Joint Secretary (Capital Markets) will participate in the Conference.

Senior of cials from the Government and nancial sector regulators will di- rectly address the questions and clarify doubts of potential investors. This initiative is expected to build comfort and con dence among the investor community in Oman. The Conference will be an introduction to the new liberalised investment norms in India providing an attractive opportunity for investors especially generated by Quali ed Foreign Investor (QFI) route.
India is projected to be the one of the fastest-growing major economy (growth rate of 6.9 per cent) in the world. Its key strengths include the strong and stable growth prospects supported by high savings and investment ratios coupled with robust domestic demand, high degree of political stability and strong institutions, deep capital markets, strong and competitive private sector, signi cant foreign capital in ows, large foreign exchange reserves and so forth.
The Government of India has taken a number of initiatives in recent times aimed at attracting higher foreign investment in India.
During interactions with various global investors and fund houses, it came to light that they are not fully aware of the details of the new initiatives taken by the Government. The new liberalised investment norms provide an attractive opportunity for investors, and a great deal of interest has been generated especially by the novel Quali ed Foreign Investor (QFI) route.
Given the widespread interest in understanding the requirements and mechanism to access Indian capital markets through the QFI route, especially by large investors from the Middle East, a series of investment conferences are being convened across the Gulf region including Oman.
