Iraq attacks kill four

BAGHDAD — Gun and bomb attacks killed three policemen and a soldier and wounded six other people in Iraq yesterday, security and medical of cials said.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Saad al Hamdani said gunmen opened re with light weapons on a checkpoint in the Hamam al Alil area, 35 kilometres from the northern city of Mosul, then ed the scene. The attack killed three policemen and wounded two others, Hamdani said.

Gunmen also shot dead a soldier in Baquba, in central Iraq’s Diyala province, a police colonel and a medical source at a local hospital said. A roadside bomb against a police patrol wounded three police in Khales, 65 kilometres north of Baghdad. — AFP
