Muscat Scouts celebrate Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II

than 300 children and their family members gathered at the British School Muscat last week to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee. Scouts, cubs and beavers joined together to celebrate Her Majesty’s impressive milestone of 60 years on the throne.

Chief Guest, Senior Loan Service Of cer, Major General Gordon and Wing Commander, Craig Hill, joined District Commission­er, Sonia Carr MBE, to lead the colourful event which re ected the wide range of celebratio­ns that have been taking place in the United Kingdom.

With bunting in place, the day began with a Jubilee Parade which saw the scouts, cubs and beavers march into the hall in formation before lining up in front of the Scout Flag which was raised by scout Brett Fletcher. The salute was taken by Major General Gordon before every member of the Scout movement renewed the promise they when they joined.

Three cheers were given for His Majesty Sultan Qaboos and for the Queen and after the formalitie­s were over, a camp re sing along took place with beavers and cubs leading those present in well-known camp re songs. The six- to fourteen-year-olds sang with great gusto and their families joined in enthusiast­ically too.
