MUSCAT — Lexus the premium luxury automobile manufacturer unveiled its futuristic plans and intentions this year. With the launch of the all-new GS. A model dubbed the face of the future. And one that represents Lexus' design direction for the future.

Since its introduction this year, the 2013 Lexus GS is constantly making a mark. Not just in terms of grabbing attention towards its advanced features, technologies and design. But also in terms of raking in recognitions, the world over.

In its latest feat, Lexus' new-generation GS has been judged a Top Safety Pick by the US-based Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). GS joins Lexus RX and CT200h in earning the honour from the IIHS, a non-pro t organisation backed by the US insurance industry.

A vehicle must achieve the highest possible score of 'good' in the IIHS' independent rollover, front, side and rear impact evaluations to be deemed a Top Safety Pick.

During roof crush strength testing, which involves pushing a metal plate against one corner of the vehicle's roof at a constant speed, GS' roof withstood a force equal to 4.88 times the vehicle's weight.

Lexus Australia Chief Executive Tony Cramb said the honour backed up GS' segment-rivalling standard active and passive safety packages while complementing its dynamic and performance features.

"The coveted Top Safety Pick rating validates the work engineers put into developing Lexus' new generation grand-touring sports sedan," Cramb said.

"Knowing GS has been through such stringent independent testing, customers can concentrate on enjoying its rewarding driver dynamics, sharp styling, and numerous luxury appointments."

The Lexus GS350 is equipped with a 3.5-litre V6 engine with a slight power increase to 312 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. The GS' suspension includes a redesigned multi-link set-up in the back. An adaptive suspension is optional.

Lexus Drive Mode Selector adapts drive-train and in-car settings to four modes: Eco, Normal, Sport S and Sport S+. The latter comes with the optional adaptive suspension. Besides stiffening the suspension, Sport S+ dials back intervention from the GS' standard electronic stability system.

Lexus vehicles are marketed in Oman by the Saud Bahwan Group. In Oman, every Lexus vehicle comes with special bene ts and privileges such as 6 years unlimited extended mileage protection — Aman Bahwan and Lexus Prestige Club Card that offers 24 hours on-road assistance from AAA. VARIETY is the spice of life and what could display it better than the In niti G range, comprising In niti G Sedan, In niti G Coupe and In niti G Convertible models, to spice up the driving experience for every type of driving enthusiast. While the In niti G37 Sedan combines superior handling with room for the family, the Coupe provides posh sports car performance. The In niti G Convertible offers the ultimate in open-air motoring and the G25 sedan appeals to the cost-conscious enthusiast.

All three varieties of In niti come powered by In niti’s superb 3.7L V6 VVEL engine, which in the sedan and convertible produces 328 hp and in the coupe 330 hp. A 7-speed automatic with Adaptive Shift Control is standard and so is the Downshift Rev Matching, which makes the manual downshifts smooth and keeps the driver in the powerband when pulling out on a two lane road. All are vibrant and sophisticated rearwheel drive and other common driving dynamic is the independent, double wishbone front suspension and multi-link rear suspension.

Suhail Bahwan Automobiles (SBA) is the exclusive importers in Oman for In niti and has contributed immensely to In niti’s increasing popularity in the country.
