DHL Express Oman has new head

DHL, the world’s leading logistics company, has appointed Turgay Sarikaya as the Country Manager for DHL Express in Oman, overseeing the strategic developmen­t of one of DHL Express’ key markets in the MENA region.

Sarikaya has over twenty years of experience in express logistics, joining DHL Express Turkey in 1991. He has held various positions in Turkey, spearheade­d the opening of various DHL Express of ces, held the position of Regional Customer Manager at DHL Express for Global Multi National Customers (GMNC) in Dubai from 2006 to 2008 and was Country Manager at DHL Express Jordan in 2010 and 2011.

“DHL Express rst started operating in the MENA region almost four decades ago, and is a multi-award winning company,” stated Sarikaya. “Oman is poised to be the next strategic logistics market in the Arabian Gulf, and with the new factories, industrial estates, free zones and the developmen­t of new airports, seaports, rail and road networks, the demand for simple and ef cient logistics solutions is ever growing. Oman is a rapidly maturing market and I look forward to helping further the company’s growth in the Sultanate.” SAMSUNG Gulf Electronic­s, a market leader in consumer electronic­s, partnered with Istikana to launch free Arabic Video-on-Demand (VoD) service for Smart TV users. Istikana will provide Smart TV users over 3,000 hours of Arabic titles, including cartoons, lms, documentar­ies and Arabic dubbed internatio­nal TV series.

The free VoD service will also provide Smart TV users with a wide collection of Arabic favourites including Bab El Hara, the story of Sayidna Yusef and Souq Al Algaz. Users can also enjoy internatio­nal dubbed favourites including Rosalinda, Rawabut Al Hob and Al Yanbou. Istikana also provides a great children’s selection including Adnan wa Lina, Sindbad and Calimero and is available on Samsung’s Smart TV Hub.

Commenting on the launch, Vinod Nair, General Manager TV Business, Samsung Gulf Electronic­s, said that Samsung is excited about giving its viewers the best in entertainm­ent experience by bringing an array of old time TV show favourites, free of charge. “The demand for Arabic content is rapidly growing in the region, however content is limited. Our partnershi­p with Istikana will give our consumers the unique chance to access one of the largest premium Arabic content libraries in the region.” GAC Oman recently felicitate­d two of its employees for their long associatio­n with the company. The recognitio­n of Hussain Hassan al Balushi and A T A Kabir, both are working for the Shipping department, who have completed 35 and 25 years respective­ly with the organisati­on is a re ection on their loyalty and long-term associatio­n and contributi­on to the growth of the company. The veterans had the opportunit­y to work with a wide range of colleagues from different countries and cultures during their tenure.

Speaking at the occasion, Patrik Halldén, General Manager of GAC Oman, congratula­ted the duo for their long associatio­n with the Company.

Graduates from GAC Corporate Academy (GCA), GAC Group’s authorised training centre, were also presented with course completion certi cates at the occasion. GCA provides GAC staff with training and support on courses related to personal as well as profession­al developmen­t categories.
