Manjari Babu, an acclaimed playback singer and Hindustani vocalist, who grew up in Muscat launched her music album in the South Indian city of Kochi under the auspices of Bharat Mammootty recently.

The mega star handed over the first copy of the album to veteran director Joshi amid a star-studded event.

Titled ‘Anuragam’ which translates to ‘love’ in Malayalam, the solo album was penned by ace lyricist and poet Kaithapram Damodaran Nampoothiri and was directed by VK Prakash, an Indian name to reckon with for internationally renowned ad films and who made his presence felt in the South Indian film industry with one of its kind feature films and is a prominent director in Telugu, Marathi, Kannada and Hindi films.

The event was attended by director Sidhik, actor Jayasurya, and an array of film and TV personalities.

Shot amid the breathtaking beauty of Munnar, the nearly 5-minute video has been watched by thousands across the globe and liked by many online.

The romantic song pictured by Dhanesh Raveendranath exemplifies a lone girl’s dreams of being loved and aspirations to join her life partner. While Manjari dons the girl’s role, Bipin Basil Paulose shares screen space with her.

Her dance movements were choreographed by Rekha Master assisted by Madhuri.

Speaking to the Observer about her project, Manjari attributed all her success to her parents, teachers and her days of growing up in Muscat. Manjari is the daughter of Babu who is in the management of the India Social Club, Muscat.

“My teachers and friends have an important role in shaping my music career. I used to take part in a lot of extracurricular activities while school days. I used to do a lot of shows in Muscat as a kid and gained a lot of confidence through the support and well wishes of listeners. I still owe my success to Muscat, the land that has given me so much love”, she remembered.
